Ask about Berlin! It is clear that planning to come to Berlin takes some special efforts and decisions as well as choices and options. Everybody can be confused. But it is better to be confused at the beginning and find the best solutions while you are on the shore before you started your trip. Suppose you have only 5 days to stay in Berlin and still do not have consensus with your loved ones if you go first to see the best museums or Berlin Wall’s East Side Gallery. Or it might be that you hesitate whether you should go to Potsdam or not.
Some people wonder how many people visit Brandenburg Gate a day. Who knows why people want to know about it. May be they work for the competitors. Suppose the Triumphal Arch in Paris.
Some people wonder if they can have a budget trip to Berlin and how expensive Berlin is.

Below you can read our answer to the message from our reader in Kenya.
"My name is Kennedy O. I am 19 years old. I currently live in Kenya. I finished my high school last year with K.C.S.E and managed to get a B-. It has been my dream to study in Berlin.
I am very humble, hardworking and visionary and if given the chance I could do a lot of amazing things in the world.
Even though it is my dream to study in Berlin but my dream may not be a reality because of my financial position.
I hope you consider my story and hope to hear from you very soon. Thank you."
Hello and greetings from Berlin, Kennedy O.
I am glad that young people from
such a faraway country visit our Berlin Germany Fanclub. Your letter I will
attach and reply that other young people from other countries can read it. I
hope you do not mind it.
Kennedy, I can understand you and think you have a good and the most important-an achievable dream. If you have those traits of character, you can manage to be successful with your education in Berlin or in other city in Germany. Probably you know that education in Berlin is free in majority of cases. There are some fees but comparing to USA and other countries it is too less to be concerned about. You can pay it when you study from your money which you can earn here in Berlin when you already study as students can work in Germany. Many students find good jobs. If you are friendly with informatics you will not have any problem to find a good job. If your talents are different you can work in pizza service or a restaurant or library. But it can all happen when you are accepted to study.
To enter the study in Berlin you should know very important things. First of all you should check the site of the institution responsible for students from foreign countries and their accreditation.
But the process of matriculation (enrollment) is not that easy and you should learn about major demands beforehand.
First of all check the site of the instution Anabin which is coordinating all issues related to prior checking of education you have got in your country and if it is acceptable to study in Germany.
I checked info about Kenya and preliminarily can say that many universities and institutes have H+ mark and it is very good. It means that German institutions accept students from those universities. When you check yourself keep in mind that universities and other educational institutions with mark H- and H+- should be avoided because you will have a lot of troubles with them with Anabin and finally get nothing. I can tell it from experience of my relative.
Taking into account your personal data you can have two options first if you graduated from your high school with excellent marks you can be accepted to study in Studiumkolleg in your specialization in the chosen university. Studiumkolleg is a special course at universities and institutes which will take around one year and will prepare students to enter specialization or faculty of their choice. In other words you will have to study the last class of a German school (but at the university) and pass the exams and get your German Abitur-certificate of your high school education or secondary education.
Or another way you should enter university in Kenya and apply after two years study in that University. Make sure that university has H+ in the classification of Anabin otherwise you will not have any chance to study in Berlin. You should have a special level of German if you want to study in German. Every institution defines itself which level of German they accept. Usually it is B2 or C1 and higher. You can also study in English but later still add German. But it is valid not for all universities. Every case they consider separately. Choose where you want to study and then contact people in charge and they will give you explanations. If you will happened still be unclear about the regulations do not worry it is the case with all future students in Germany. Regulations in this country are very special and complicated but you should not give up. Continue until you will have a clear cut idea about their regulations and demands.
It will be more difficult to manage everything from Kenya. But most likely doable. The best would be to do it from Berlin. Usually young people come first to study German and pass the examinations. And also apply to universities. You can apply to several universities.
But this way will demand money which you will have to pay for school of German and accommodation and other expenses. If your financial situation will not allow you to do it, try to find foundations which can help you. You can look for them in your country and in Germany and other countries.
I have intention to write e-book with the name Study in Berlin for free or something like this in which I plan to describe the procedures and give the general idea how to manage that uneasy plan.
I hope you have a preliminary understanding of your first steps. I wish you all the best and good luck.
